Help us Choose a Name for the New School
Hanover School Division would like to engage our students, staff, parent/guardians, and the greater Niverville community to help us select a name for the new school.
Process of Selection
The Board of Trustees has tasked the Niverville Building Committee to review suggestions and short list potential names for the new school. Upon review of suggestions received via the online form below, the Committee will provide the Board of Trustees a short list of names for consideration. Trustees will make the final name selection.
Name submissions will be accepted until April, 30, 2018. Please note that no submissions will be accepted after this time.
Guidelines for Suggestions
Any HSD student, staff member, parent/guardian, or Niverville community member is invited to submit a potential name. This is an open process and we welcome all suggestions.
Any potential name that is submitted should be able to stand the test of time. School buildings serve their communities for many generations. A name that is selected today should remain relevant to future generations.
The Board of Trustees will consider many factors when selecting a final name. For example, naming criteria may include one or more of the following considerations:
- Identify the community in which the school is located
- Identify the historical or geographical features of the community or local area
- Distinct identity relative to other names of other facilities in the division
- Represent cultures and/or beliefs of the community
We look forward to receiving your suggestions as we work together to name the new school!
